Many people don't realize this but God wants us to do crazy things. No, this doesn't mean he wants you to go and jump off a cliff or go running with the bulls. What I mean here is that God wants us to get out of our comfort zone and do things for his purpose. Reading through the Bible do you remember the characters who did mediocre, normal things? No! You remember people who did extraordinary crazy things! David fought a giant with slingshot and three stones. Then he cut Goliaths head off. Esther went into the king's court and risked execution so that she could save the Israelites from persecution. Naomi left her whole family and her homeland to take care of her widowed mother-in-law instead of going back home to the comfort of her family. Jesus healed the sick, the blind, the cripple, the hurting and the broken. Jesus and his disciples raised people from the dead, and Jesus turned water into wine. The list goes on and on. With the exception of Jesus, all of these people were ordinary every day people. What made them different is that the put aside their self consciousness, their pride and their hesitancy and went for it. They did crazy things because God asked them to. They obeyed God's instructions and through him, they thrived. They changed lives! Don't you want to be one of those life changers? I know I want to be one. I want to see people being healed and restored. I want to be a part of that.
It's definitely not easy to do but it is possible. Mark and Parker Batterson wrote in their book All In, "Don't be surprised if people mock you and laugh at you when you do something crazy. People are jealous and fearful by nature. Get over it and Get on with it. People may think you are crazy when you climb a cliff, but you can be crazy or you can be normal. Who wants to be normal? Me Either!"
This is what inspired me to write this post. I don't want to be normal! For pity sake I have a purple pixie cut. I paint my face green and yellow and dress up as a garden fairy for fun! I can't really be normal anymore anyways so why bother? Why not go all out? Why not jump in feet first and do something crazy for Christ. No one ever remembers the people who were normal
My name is Sarah Prevost and I love Jesus. I am passionate about telling others about his love for them and what the Bible says about situations and topics that teens are going through every day. I hope that this blog can be an inspiration to others as it has been for me. I pray that God will work in my readers hearts as he has worked in mine. I love you guys, every single one of you. And God loves you more than you could ever know. God Bless, Sarah Prevost
